A "friend" suddenly called a video and was scammed out of 4.3 million yuan in 10 minutes

According to the official WeChat account of Ping An Baotou, recently, the Telecommunications Network Crime Investigation Bureau of Baotou Public Security Bureau released a case of using intelligent AI technology for telecommunications fraud. The boss of a Fuzhou technology company was scammed 4.3 million yuan within 10 minutes.

On April 20th, Mr. Guo, the legal representative of a technology company in Fuzhou, suddenly received a WeChat video from a friend. The friend told Mr. Guo that his friend was bidding outside of town and needed a deposit of 4.3 million yuan, and that he needed to transfer funds from a company account. Therefore, he wanted to borrow Mr. Guo's company account to transfer funds. My friend asked Mr. Guo for his bank card number, claiming that he had already transferred the money to his account. He also sent a screenshot of the bank transfer receipt to Mr. Guo through WeChat.

Based on the trust of video chat, Mr. Guo did not verify whether the money had been credited and transferred 4.3 million yuan to the other party in two separate transactions. After the money transfer, Mr. Guo sent a message to his friend's WeChat stating that the matter had been completed. But what he didn't expect was that the message returned by his friend was actually a question mark.

Mr. Guo called his friend's phone number and the other person said it was not the case. Only then did he realize that he had encountered a "high-end" scam, where the other person used intelligent AI face changing technology to pretend to be a friend and carried out fraud on him.

Urgent pursuit! Two police forces have successfully intercepted over 3 million yuan in collaboration

At 12:21 on April 20th, the Baotou Telecom Network Crime Investigation Bureau received an external cooperation request from the Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Fuzhou Public Security Bureau in Fujian Province, stating that the head of a well-known private enterprise in Fujian Province had been cheated of 4.3 million yuan, and the bank card involved was a public account of Baotou Mengshang Bank. We hope that the Baotou police can help to urgently stop the payment.

It is understood that with the full assistance of the bank, the 3.3684 million yuan in the fraudulent account has been successfully intercepted. Meanwhile, the Fuzhou Public Security Bureau police have received information on the outflow of the remaining 931600 yuan of funds. At present, the Fujian police and the Baotou police are fully pursuing the funds.
