On April 18th, writer Zheng Yuanjie posted a farewell letter on Weibo.

Zheng Yuanjie's Weibo screenshot shows that due to a loss of confidence in trademark protection, he has decided to bid farewell to trademark protection and continue writing every day, but his works will never be published again.

Works of Zheng Yuanjie
Zheng Yuanjie is known as the "King of Fairy Tales". He was born on June 15, 1955 in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. He has authored a series of books such as "The Biography of Pipi Lu", "The Biography of Lusi", and "The Adventures of Shuke Beta". He has created well-known characters such as Pipi Lu, Lusi, Shuke, and Beta. In 2008, he won the United Nations International Copyright Creative Gold Award.
According to the tax declaration presented by Zheng Yuanjie, in 2021, he paid over 10 million yuan in taxes for his series of books.

But at the same time, his "farewell letter" also shows that for many years, Zheng Yuanjie has been busy solving the issue of trademark protection.
According to Zheng Yuanjie, over the years, his original well-known literary characters have been maliciously registered with 710 infringing trademarks, ranging from pickled food, underwear, gas valves, rat food, to artificial insemination of livestock. Since 2002, he has been defending the rights of infringing trademarks, but in the past 21 years, only 37 infringing trademarks have been successfully protected.
On average, it takes 6 years for each infringing trademark to successfully protect its rights. For the longest infringing trademark, I spent 19 years until the Supreme People's Court to successfully protect its rights. However, there are currently 673 infringing trademarks that have not been successfully protected, "Zheng Yuanjie wrote in the article.

Zheng Yuanjie emphasized that in December 2021, "Fairy Tale King", which had been established for 36 years and had a circulation of 200 million copies, was forced to stop publication by these 673 infringing trademarks.
Farewell, trademark protection. I feel like I'm small. All I can do is make weak revisions to 'The Legend of Schuck Beta', and Schuck and Pipiru will no longer go to Germany
