微信图片_20220913212247.pngIt is reported that Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. is applying for the graphic trademark of "wechat input method". Earlier, Zhang Xiaolong said in his wechat open class that he would launch "wechat input method". Last year, the wechat team said that the "wechat input method" has been opened to a very small range of users for internal testing, and users who display the "wechat keyboard" in the "plug-in" are internal testing users.
333.jpgAccording to the data of relevant research institutions, at present, the domestic third-party input method market presents a situation of tripartite confrontation, with Baidu input method, Sogou input method and Xunfei input method accounting for nearly 95% of the market. Even mobile phone manufacturers can not avoid choosing one of them as a partner.
In general, these three companies are already dominating China's input method market. What is frightening is that these input methods may be collecting users' personal information.
In the early days of big data advertising, many users said that they wanted to buy a product with their friends on wechat. When they opened the shopping app, the product was directly pushed to their home page. These users blamed the problem on "wechat leaks". It was found in the survey that "leaker" may be the input method used by users. Once this news was exposed, countless netizens were in panic. The appearance of wechat input method is likely to change this phenomenon.
Zhang Xiaolong once said that wechat didn't want to do the input method originally, but many users complained that their chat records were stolen. If you type anything, you will see the corresponding advertisement. He explained that wechat does not keep chat records, and wechat also stipulates that anyone who reads a user's chat records will be expelled. Therefore, in order to protect users' privacy, wechat needs to make an input method by itself.
Wechat currently has a large number of users in China. If these users use wechat's input method, the whole market will be shaken up in the future. Netizens expressed the hope that wechat would give users the right to choose freely, instead of forcing wechat users to use it.
However, even the wechat input method does not mean that it will not collect user information, but at least it is up to the user to decide whether to enable it. Objectively speaking, the wechat team will provide your information to matching advertisers at most, so that your circle of friends ads will be more "suitable" for you, and will not be sold to other service providers, such as banks and real estate. It seems that it is "safe".
At present, some users have said that they have received the notice of the internal test of "wechat input method", and the internal test has been conducted for many rounds. This time, Tencent formally applied to register the graphic trademark of wechat input method. The message to users is that wechat input method has passed relevant tests and will be officially launched soon.

As soon as the news of "wechat input method" came out, it immediately aroused heated discussion among netizens, which also reflected everyone's concern about wechat from another angle.
When it comes to wechat, everyone will think of Tencent's social app. In fact, from the perspective of trademark application, Tencent is not the earliest applicant of the "wechat" trademark, nor is it the first company to obtain the wechat trademark.
As early as January 21, 2011, the beta version of wechat was released. On January 24, 2011, Tencent submitted an application for trademark registration of "wechat" graphic and text to the trademark office. However, at that time, Tencent applied for "wechat" trademarks in only two categories, computer related (category 9) and TV related (category 38).
Before Tencent applied for the "wechat" trademark, in November 2010, a company had applied for a trademark in categories 9, 38 and 42, and finally successfully registered in categories 38 and 42. However, after a series of procedures such as Tencent's objection, objection review and court action, the company finally successfully invalidated the "wechat" trademark of a company in categories 38 and 42.
In recent years, wechat has become more and more well-known, and the gold content of trademarks has naturally risen. The resulting trademark disputes have been one after another, and the "wechat" trademark has created waves.
For example, wechat food company, Xiaoshu company and zhonglvnong company have used the words "wechat food" and "wechatfood" in their website publicity and offline business promotion; Moreover, wechat food company registered "wechat" as an enterprise name, which is suspected of trademark infringement and unfair competition.
Tencent will bring the three companies to the Beijing Intellectual Property Court to stop infringing on the well-known trademark rights, and wechat food company will stop using the "wechat" enterprise name, pay money and claim 50 million yuan!
At present, the case is still under trial.
There are three twists and turns in one wave, and the road of "wechat" trademark has a long way to go.
Throughout the long history of disputes over the "wechat" trademark, Tencent raised an objection to the "wechat" trademark in 2015. In June 2018, after hearing the case, the Business Review Committee made a reexamination decision not to register it.
In 2016, Tencent sued Guangdong wechat company for trademark infringement and unfair competition, and obtained 80000 yuan in compensation.
In addition, Tencent invalidated the 41 category "wechat" trademark of an information technology Co., Ltd., and the trademark was finally withdrawn.
In the 2017 top ten intellectual property cases in Guangdong, Tencent sued "Shenzhen wechat payment company" and won 100000 yuan in compensation.
Today, the true face of "wechat keyboard" has not yet been revealed, and everything is still unknown. It is only from the first application for registration of the trademark "wechat keyboard" that Tencent has a high awareness of trademarks.
From the perspective of the long-term development strategy of the enterprise, considering from the market and the law, it is imperative to prevent trademark infringement and rush registration, which will bring unfavorable situations to the enterprise.
