From January to July 2020, China has applied for 818000 invention patents and 266000 invention patents have been authorized; the number of trademark applications in China is 5171000, and the number of registered trademarks is 3115000; 409 enterprises have approved the use of special marks for geographical indication products, and 401 registered geographical indication trademarks have been approved.

1、 Patents

From January to July 2020, 818000 invention patents were applied and 266000 invention patents were authorized. By the end of July 2020, the effective number of invention patents in China was 2.856 million, of which, the effective number of domestic invention patents (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) was 2.028 million, and the number of invention patents per 10000 population reached 14.5.

From January to July, 1.542 million utility model patents were applied and 1.27 million utility model patents were authorized. By the end of July 2020, the number of utility model patents is 6.136 million.

From January to July, 404000 design patents were applied and 433000 design patents were authorized. By the end of July 2020, the effective number of design patents was 2.031 million.

From January to July, our bureau accepted 36000 PCT international patent applications, including 33000 domestic ones.

From January to July, our bureau accepted 31200 reexamination requests and closed 30200 cases. 3200 invalidation claims were accepted and 5200 cases were closed.

2、 Trademarks

From January to July 2020, the number of trademark applications in China is 5.171 million, and the number of registered trademarks is 3.115 million. By the end of July 2020, the number of effective registered trademarks was 27.845 million.

From January to July, 74000 applications for trademark opposition were filed, and 79000 opposition cases were reviewed.

From January to July, we received 4551 applications for international trademark registration in Madrid from Chinese applicants.

From January to July, the Bureau received 201 000 applications for various trademark review cases, and 220000 cases were closed.

3、 Geographical indication and integrated circuit layout design

From January to July 2020, 409 enterprises with special geographical indication products were approved to use, and 401 geographical indication trademarks were registered. As of July 2020, 2385 geographical indication products have been approved, 8914 enterprises have been approved to use special signs, and 5719 geographical indication trademarks have been registered.

From January to July 2020, there are 6169 applications for IC layout design registration and 6443 certificates issued.
