015 年01月23日，位於德州的專利非實施實體(non- practicing entity, NPE) Wetro Lan LLC公司（以下簡稱Wetro或原告），向德州東區地方法院提起專利侵權訴訟，指控加州的D-Link Systems, Incorporated公司（以下簡稱被告或D-Link）所製造、使用、進口及販售的D-Link DIR-655無線網路路由器等產品侵害其專利權。原告除要求法院禁止被告的侵權行為外，並要求被告負起損害賠償的責任。
原 告Wetro Lan LLC公司為新設的專利非實施實體。於2015年1月23日大規模提起12件專利訴訟[表三]，包括台灣廠商有：華碩、康全、邁智、友訊等。被告D- Link Systems, Incorporated則為製造家用多媒體和網際網路分享整合器的知名廠商。
隨 著Wi-Fi無線服務日益普及，無線網路基地台管理從原本的機房管理走向雲端集中管控。原本需要多台無線網路控制器輔助，改以讓無線網路基地台透過防火牆 之外的雲端控器管理，因為無線網路基地台有大範圍分散部署的特點，藉由雲端管理可免去後端實體控制器，顯著提升佈建彈性。
本案系爭專利為美國專利編號US 6,795,918，專利名稱為「服務層級電腦安全 」(Service level computer security)，於2004年9月21日核發。
訴狀中，原告宣稱，被告公司於系爭專利的存續期間，未經其許可，於美國境內製造、使用、邀約銷售或銷售，已獲准專利的發明技術或產品，直接及間接侵害其專利權，依其專利侵權的事實，應負擔侵權的損害賠償，且被告須負擔原告的律師費。(1121字；表3)
